Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants on property. Reservations are difficult to get but checking frequently starting a few days before your trip is advisable. People often cancel at the last minute.
You may be thinking Topolino’s Terrace is so popular for its food, and it is! But that is not all; it is also home to some of the most stunning views on property. From the terrace, you can see The Tower of Terror, the beautiful views of the Riviera, and even Spaceship Earth if you get lucky. For the best pictures, consider dining around the time of sunset.
The resort is also one of the most elegant places to stay on property with its array of European-styled gardens, coffee café, and delicious restaurants; you cannot go wrong.
Topolino’s Terrace restaurant has an allergy menu that will satisfy your whole party. The adults have a variety of drinks. On our most recent visit, we tried the Midi Spritz and the Pomegranate Paradiso, both popular selections at the restaurant. We loved them both.
The Midi Spritz features Magellan Gin, Aperol, Grapefruit, and Saint-Hilaire Blanquette de Limoux Brut.
The Pomegranate Paradiso features Figenza Vodka, Pomegranate, Lemon, and Pineapple.
We also loved the fact that a water carafe was placed on the table. We tend to drink a lot of water with our meals, and there is nothing worse than sitting at the table with an empty glass. Little touches like this go a long way in our book.
With an elaborate allergy menu, your party will have no trouble eating; whether gluten-free, paleo, keto, or with any food allergies, there is a lot to choose from, and the chefs are only too happy to help.
Topolino’s Terrace Appetizers – So Many to Choose
Topolino’s Terrace has many appetizers to choose from, and we tried the escargot, ricotta, and root bisque. Our server Samuel had many great suggestions. Between Samuel and Chef Danny, we came up with alternatives for these appetizers to turn them into gluten-friendly, keto, and paleo options.
Escargot en Gougères
The escargot is gluten-friendly and a safe choice for anyone with an egg, fish, peanut, and soy allergy. Plus, it is served the traditional way, in the shell, and is made with butter, garlic, lemon, and parsley. For all you escargot lovers, this is a highly recommended option!
Ricotta
When it came to the ricotta, the chef recommended a gluten-free Bloomfield Farms bun instead of the traditional bread accompaniment. Another alternative, which we chose, was a plate of raw vegetables for dipping. If you like vegetables, this is the way to go. The ricotta features tomato, aged balsamic, cracked pepper, basil, and epi.
The chef prepared a gorgeous crudité plate of carrots, celery, and radishes. At first, it looked like a lot of vegetables, but it was the perfect amount for the ricotta. We also chose to get the jam topping on the side, which gave us a taste for both separately. The ricotta was an amazing appetizer with the crudité. It was plenty of food and a healthy, delicious alternative to the standard menu item.
Root Bisque
The third appetizer we tried was the root bisque, made from parsnip, celery root, heirloom apple, cocoa nibs, and sorrel. This is by far my favorite item on the menu. It has some interesting ingredients that many diners may not be used to, but do not let that discourage you from ordering. It is a creamy, delicious, healthy bisque that is guaranteed to make your tummy smile. Plus, it is served in a fun magical way! The server brings it out with the base, then, at the table, pours the bisque on top. It is by far a must-have, especially for gluten, fish, peanut, and soy allergies.
Topolino’s Terrace is a great place to share a meal with family and friends. If you are interested in trying multiple things, you cannot go wrong with their tasty appetizers. In the future we hope to try the Olives Marinées, Gnocchi, Beets Barigoule, and Romaine Insalata.
Topolino’s Terrace Gluten-Free Dinner and Dessert
Our gluten-free dinner at Topolino’s Terrace was top-notch. Since we ordered so many appetizers, we opted to share an entrée. We had never tried a Tomahawk Veal Chop before and asked the chef what he recommended. Once he said the Tomahawk was a great choice, we knew we had to go for it.
Tomahawks are notoriously known for being fattier meat, which chef Danny reminded us, so be aware of that going in. He recommended we have it cooked medium rare, which was the right choice indeed. The outside of the meat was crunchy and seasoned to perfection, while the inside was soft. Plus, it is fun to eat a piece of meat that looks like it is straight out of the Flintstones. The chop is traditionally served with potato-torpedo onion gratin and lemon-veal jus.
As substitutions, the chef added cooked carrots and a custom-made artichoke risotto with less garlic than typical. Ever since being put on a low fodmap diet, I try to reduce garlic and onion in my meals. Chef Danny knew how badly I wanted to try the artichoke risotto and made sure to create one for me with a smaller dose of garlic. It was everything I could have wanted and more. This is another example of why it is important to speak with the chef when there are allergies and limitations. The majority of the time, they can find substitutions that will have you eating like royalty.
Delectable Dessert
For dessert, we tried the pistachio mousse, which we had heard so much about. This dish is exquisitely served and definitely Instagram-worthy.
It features a gluten-free chocolate cake, lemon curd, and morello cherries. With cherries scattered around the plate and a chocolate swirl on top, it is so pretty you will hesitate before taking that first bite. For all pistachio lovers, this is a treat. It is soft and light on the tongue and is the perfect finish to a delicious meal.
Topolino’s Terrace is sure to be a fantastic meal with family and friends. There is no limit to the alternatives the chefs can create to fulfill any dietary and allergy restrictions. Whether you are visiting for the terrace views, staying at the elegant property, or just looking for a grand meal, you cannot go wrong. I know we will be back soon.
