An awesome holiday extra attraction that Disney puts on is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Since I was a little girl, my family and I have always wanted to attend and celebrate the holidays with the characters at this special ticketed event. That being said, healthy Paleo and gluten-free eating were for mealtime – snacking was no holds barred.
The Magic Kingdom park closes early for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. The only guests in after 7 are ticket holders for the event. You can guess what that means, no lines! Yes, one of the best parts about the evening is fewer people within the park, so that drastically reduces the waiting in lines.
While not all rides are open for the event, the majority are, so you are not really missing much by having some attractions closed.
When we went to Pirates of the Carribean, the line said 5 minutes, which is nothing to wait! However, by the time we were seated in the ride, it had actually been only 2. It was the same for many of the other rides. Having such low wait times allowed for a fun night with lots of Disney magic.
We got to soar through Neverland, visit some dwarves in a mine, help Buzz Lightyear, and so much more. It is so nice not to have to wait, especially because there is no hot sun out. Plus, families with small children do not have to worry about them getting impatient in lines – they just have to stay awake!
Snacking Is One of the Best Parts of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
I was really excited for all the snack stations set up around the park during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. There are special holiday snacks provided for “free” at different food stations, easily located by a giant lit up candy cane marking where to go. Ok, so they weren’t “free” since you had to buy the ticket, but they were included in the event price.
With five different holiday cookies to choose from you really cannot go wrong. There was even a gluten-free cookie for anyone with allergies or dietary restrictions. My favorite was the sugar cookie shaped like Santa, but the gingerbread was also a big hit.
Each station also features a special beverage to go with the snack. I loved the blue snow cones that accompanied the Christmas tree pretzels. I am a big pretzel fan, so that was one of my favorite stations, and I kept going back for more! Did I mention you could keep going back for your favorites over and over again?
It was on the chilly side when we were there which was great because some of the stations provided hot drinks. There was hot chocolate (with cookies) or hot apple cider (with dove chocolates). Naturally, I went back a couple of times for more hot chocolate to keep me warm between rides. Of course, who could resist trying the hot chocolate flight? Yum!
Even though it was cold, I think my absolute favorite drink of the night was the eggnog. My holiday season had been lacking eggnog, and I was so happy and relieved to know that I would be able to drink some before the holidays were over. At the end of the night, many of the stations had lots of extra cookies. Cast members walked out asking people to take more. I left stuffed with eggnog and my hands full of cookies and pretzels.
Shows and More Fun at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
To make Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party even more special, Disney has lots of scheduled shows through the night. There is also the Christmas parade where guests can see all their favorite characters and floats – followed by the magic of “snow” in Florida!
I loved watching Anna and Elsa light up the castle to a frozen winter wonderland and seeing all my favorite Frozen characters. There was also a fantastic acapella singing group that switched up some classic holiday songs.
The night can be long by the time you see, eat, and ride everything but it is so worth it. I would go again just for the snacks alone; it is a magical holiday experience to share with loved ones.
