Smokejumpers Grill Gluten-Free Lunch
If you are looking for a good classic burger or sandwich, the best place to check is Smokejumpers Grill at Disney Park California Adventure. Located conveniently to the right of the main entrance and directly next to Soarin’, Smokejumpers Grill is located inside of an aircraft hangar with a menu designed to match. This is one of the more allergy-friendly quick service restaurants around the resort. Their menu has become more diverse since our visit, with the addition of a BBQ Jackfruit Sandwich that you can also get on a gluten-friendly roll or without bread entirely. The standard French fries have been replaced with waffle-cut fries, or you can ask for sliced apples or coleslaw. Our Smokejumpers Grill gluten-free lunch was both quick and filling.
When we went, we tried both the 1/3 lb. Angus Cheeseburger and the Chicken Sandwich. Interestingly enough, today, the chicken sandwich is no longer available on the Smokejumpers Grill gluten-free lunch allergy menu. We ordered both sandwiches on the gluten-friendly roll. The allergy-friendly rolls were surprisingly different from the other bread used around the parks but were equally delicious. But like most of the gluten-friendly rolls, they will fill you up pretty quickly. The burger itself is not much more than a regular burger topped with a slice of cheddar cheese, but it is still a great burger.
The chicken sandwich, on the other hand, while not as well shaped to the buns, was much better. The chicken felt like a larger portion even with the lower price cost. It was cooked to perfection, with just a little bit of crisp on the edges, the way I like it, and topped with a slice of cheese. Once again, there is nothing special to it, but it is perfect if you are after a quick meal and have some picky eaters.
As you can see, we also got French fries. It is important to point out that the fries served at most Disney locations have some form of soy coating, making them unacceptable for anyone with a soy allergy.
Another option on the Smokejumpers Grill gluten-free lunch menu is the new BBQ jackfruit sandwich served with house-made pickles. There is also a gluten-friendly grilled chicken salad served with black beans, corn, peppers, queso fresco, and pumpkin seeds tossed with an avocado dressing.
Overall, Smokejumpers Grill is a great restaurant if you are after just grabbing some food, especially if you can grab a FastPass for Soarin’ right before or after eating. You can find the latest menu and allergy menu here.
