Wine Country Trattoria World of Color Dining Package
During normal operating seasons, the Wine Country Trattoria World of Color Dining Package is an excellent option. The dining package provides you with reserved viewing in the perfect spot for the evening show. While the signature Disneyland California Adventure World of Color may be under refurbishment right now, the dining options listed below are still available on the regular restaurant menu. I have reviewed a gluten-friendly version of the Spaghetti Bolognese before, so on this visit, we selected dishes featuring a more traditional taste of the restaurant. Our selections meet the needs of diners on a paleo or gluten-free diet.
The Wine Country Trattoria World of Color Dining Package comes with a non-alcoholic beverage, starter, entrée, and dessert, as well as the reserved viewing spot all for only forty-nine dollars per person. As you can see in the menu below, you can also add an additional starter to your meal, or select one of the premium beverage options, including one of the signature wine flights.
For starter options, there is either a choice of the Chef’s Soup Selection or the Italian Insalata. The soup is an Italian Wedding Soup that is not gluten-free. The Insalata comes as a thick slice of iceberg lettuce topped with pepperoncinis, kalamata olives, Roma tomatoes, cucumbers, and shaved parmesan with a red wine vinaigrette.
For a paleo option, all that’s needed is to leave off the parmesan cheese. Those on a keto diet can leave the cheese as is. Instead of the red wine vinaigrette, paleo and keto diners can use the supplied balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. As you can see, my dining companion also omitted the cucumbers.
The Wine Country Trattoria World of Color Dining Package offers a selection of wonderful entrees. There are numerous options available for individuals on special diets. Allergy-friendly meals are easy for the chefs at Wine Country Trattoria. Of course, there are plenty of gluten-friendly pasta options using rice pasta. However, if you are going for a more paleo-friendly meal, there is the Rib-Eye Steak or Salmon. The Osso Bucco does contain a small amount of sugar in the braising liquid. Our selections were the Rib-Eye and Osso Bucco, with appropriate dietary changes in the sides.
The Rib-Eye Steak traditionally comes with creamy garlic stacked potatoes and roasted brussels sprouts with bacon and honey. To make the dish fit the needs of a paleo diet, we switched the potatoes for green beans sautéed in extra virgin olive oil. The green beans were perfectly sautéed and a preferable switch from the potatoes when pairing with the steak – which was cooked to perfection. But the real shining star on the plate is the brussels sprouts. Roasted, sweet, and tender, the brussels sprouts shine amongst the meal as an incredible addition.
The Osso Bucco is a slow-braised lamb served with polenta and seasonal vegetables. However, I switched the polenta for the stacked potatoes from the rib-eye steak. I try to avoid corn products as much as possible, and since this dish was for a gluten-free dieter, rather than paleo, the potatoes were an excellent option. The lamb was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. The potatoes tasted a bit bland compared to the other items on the plate, but the vegetables were fantastic. The seasonal vegetables featured roasted asparagus and rainbow cherry tomatoes and were superb, especially since I am not a fan of asparagus.
The Wine Country Trattoria World of Color Dining Package includes a choice of two desserts. Neither option of the Trattoria Tiramisu or Chocolate Panna Cotta is gluten-friendly or paleo. Fresh fruit is a possible substitution if desired. Both dessert selections are fantastic though if you are willing and able to make a small cheat. Each one is rich and full of flavor and a perfect finale to the meal.
It is a shame that many Disney restaurants on both coasts insist on turning a typically gluten-free dessert such as panna cotta into a gluten-laden dish. It would serve many people if they would leave panna cotta desserts available for gluten-friendly dieters.
Do not pass up the chance to take advantage of any of these dishes when you visit the restaurant or your next trip, and hopefully, once The World of Color returns on March 1, the menu and dining package will return.
