Woody’s Lunch Box Breakfast – Gluten-Friendly
No visit to the new Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios would be complete without a stop at Woody’s Lunch Box. This new quick-service restaurant dishes out tasty new options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We have tried Woody’s Lunch Box breakfast options twice, and not been disappointed at all. When it comes to quick-service, gluten-friendly breakfast options, Woody’s gives you choices.
Woody’s Lunch Box breakfast menu may be small, but chances are you will find something for everyone in your party. For those wanting to start the day off with a rush of sugar, you can choose from the S’more Sandwich, Lunch Box Tart, or Banana Split Yogurt Parfait. If savory is more your morning style, you can opt for the Smoked Turkey Breakfast Sandwich or Breakfast Bowl. They also serve keto-friendly Mini Babybel Snack Cheeses in a convenient 3-pack for on-the-go snacking. Kid’s meals feature half of either sandwich, potato barrels, and mandarin oranges, along with a small lowfat milk or Dasani water bottle.
Woody’s Lunch Box also serves freshly brewed Joffrey’s coffee for parents who need that extra pick-me-up in the morning. Since it is never too early for a root beer float, you will find that available as an option all day. Woody’s specialty non-alcoholic beverage is their Mystic Portal Punch. A variety of sodas, juice, milk, and bottled water are available. Of course, Woody’s Lunch Box also serves up free cups of water all day. Why spend money on bottled water when you can get it for free?
Our Sampling of Gluten-Friendly Breakfast Items from Woody’s Lunch Box
On our first visit to check out Woody’s Lunch Box breakfast, we opted for one sweet and one savory selection. Having heard so much about the gluten-friendly S’more French Toast Sandwich, we had to give it a try. It features marshmallow and chocolate ganache stuffed in grilled custard soaked gluten-free bread. Those without dietary restrictions will have brioche encrusted with graham cracker crumbs.
- the ganache contains dairy (heavy cream, dark chocolate, butter, inverted sugar)
- the custard contains dairy and egg (egg, milk, cinnamon, vanilla extract)
- the marshmallows contain corn (corn syrup, sugar, modified corn starch, dextrose, water, less than 2% gelatin, tetrasodium pyrophosphate (whipping aid), natural and artificial flavor, blue 1)
- the brioche bread contains gluten, egg, tree nut, dairy, peanut, and soy (including malted barley)
- the graham crumbs contain gluten, corn, and soy
I will try to update this list with the ingredients in the gluten-free bread on my next visit.
The S’more French Toast Sandwich was decadent, gooey, and oh-so-sweet. Unless you are a serious morning sugar eater, I recommend sharing this with someone else. It is too much sugar for one person to consume, but definitely worth trying.
We also tried the breakfast bowl, which features a hefty portion (YES!) of potato barrels smothered in smoked brisket country gravy, scrambled eggs, and a sprinkling of green onions.
We asked for the gravy on the side since it contains gluten, and only one of us is gluten-free. You can see the tiny specks of brisket in the photo of the gravy. My dining companion that morning liked the gravy but was glad it was on the side. She enjoyed dipping the potato barrels into it but said she would not have wanted it in her bowl. The breakfast bowl was a significant-sized meal and could easily be shared among two mildly hungry adults.
Although there are no paleo options for breakfast here, you could ask to just have a portion of eggs if you want. Woody’s Lunch Box breakfast eggs are made from liquid cage-free whole eggs with citric acid for preserving.
The other ingredients in the breakfast bowl include:
Smoked Brisket Country Gravy contains heavy cream, flour, butter, tobacco (distilled vinegar and red pepper), and smoked beef brisket (beef brisket, salt, 2% or less flavorings, paprika).
The ingredients in the Potato Barrels at the time of this writing are:
Potatoes, vegetable oil (one or more of the following: canola, palm, soybean, sunflower), salt, corn flour, dehydrated potato, disodium dihydrogen pyrophosphate (to promote color retention), dextrose.
Those with a corn or soy allergy should avoid items containing the potato barrels.
On our second visit to check out Woody’s Lunch Box breakfast options, we decided to share the Smoked Turkey Breakfast Sandwich on gluten-friendly bread, a side of potato barrels, as well as cheat with the Raspberry Lunch Box Tart.
The Smoked Turkey Sandwich contained a hefty portion of turkey, eggs, and cheese. The bread was surprisingly soft and fresh.
I do wish they would have taken an extra minute in the preparation of the sandwich to even out the slices of turkey. As you can see from the photo, the sandwich was a bit lop-sided. There was an area that had only eggs and cheese.
Ingredients for the filling of the sandwich include:
- Turkey brine (water, salt, pepper, celery salt, thyme, smoked paprika, garlic, onion, ginger, brown sugar, rosemary, thyme, apple juice)
- Swiss cheese (pasteurized part-skim milk, cheese culture, salt, enzymes
- Eggs (liquid cage-free whole eggs, citric acid)
- Garlic Mayo (gourmet mayonnaise with fresh garlic – soybean oil, egg yolk, vinegar, water, contains less than 2% of sugar, salt, lemon juice concentrate, garlic powder, onion powder, spice, calcium disodium EDTA to protect flavor)
The regular sourdough bread used for non-gluten-free sandwiches contains flour (wheat, barley, niacin, iron, thiamin, riboflavin, folic acid), water, and salt.
Eliminating the garlic mayo would make this sandwich ok if you only have a soybean allergy.
The ingredients in the raspberry tart include flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, coconut oil, eggs, and butter for the crust. The berry filling contains cocoa butter, strawberry, glucose, fructose, raspberry, potato starch, and thickener. The decorative pearls contain cocoa butter, sugar, whole milk, whey powder, soy lethicin, vanilla, crisped cereal, wheat flour, malt flour, salt, glucose syrup, and vegetable fat.
The tart is not safe for anyone with a gluten, dairy, egg, tree nut, or soy allergy.
All in all, Woody’s Lunch Box is a welcome addition to the quick-service breakfast options at Hollywood Studios.
