Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in the heart of Main Street is my favorite stop on a Disney vacation. First off, it is an Italian restaurant, which is always a good choice. One of my top go-to meals at the Magic Kingdom is Tony’s Town Square Restaurant gluten-friendly spaghetti dinner.
When entering the park, I can always count on looking to my right and seeing the beautiful white sign staring back at me. It is also right next to a meet and greet for Mickey Mouse! For this restaurant, it is important to book a reservation ahead of time as they do fill up fast, although you may be able to walk up and make a last-minute booking. Even if there is a wait time for your table, you will not be bored. There are comfortable couches and chairs inside, and the movie Lady and the Tramp is always playing for your entertainment!
The allergy-friendly menu at Tony’s Town Square has many gluten-friendly options for lunch and dinner, including soup, salads, and even a grilled chicken parmigiana. For those on a paleo or keto diet, the chefs here would also be able to prepare meals with steak, chicken, or shrimp to meet your needs.
When I became gluten-free, I was very concerned about losing some of my favorite foods, including pasta. But not to worry, Tony’s has gluten-friendly suggestions and other allergy-friendly substitutes. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs from the allergy-friendly menu. The wait staff was very willing to assist me in picking my meal and making sure I was satisfied. They brought me out prepackaged gluten-free rolls to have while the rest of the table ate their bread. The rolls were a bit hard, but dunked in the oil they were delicious, and I was happy to be able to partake in the bread eating. These are the same standard rolls you get in most Disney restaurants.
When my meal came out, it was a giant plate with an allergy tag sticking up to ensure it was prepared accordingly. I dug in, and it tasted the same as when I had eaten the meal previously with regular pasta. I would not have been able to tell the difference that I was eating rice pasta. A positive note is that Tony’s Town Square Restaurant gluten-friendly spaghetti uses rice pasta and not corn pasta that you get in some national chain restaurants. If I did not know I was eating turkey meatballs, I would have thought they were beef. It is nice to be able to get a gluten-free meatball at a restaurant. So many put bread crumbs in their meatballs.
This is a great meal alternative in Disney and is always a family favorite. Kids will be happy getting to enjoy their gluten-pasta as well. The meals are also very large, so you can be sure you are getting your money’s worth. I highly recommend this as a great place to eat, particularly right before the fireworks. After eating, be sure to step outside of the restaurant for the perfect view of Main Street and the firework show above the castle.
The only bad thing about my Tony’s Town Square Restaurant gluten-friendly spaghetti dinner was that there was so much of it, I was too full for dessert. The menu had three gluten-friendly options – gelato, sorbet, and a rich chocolate layered cake – that I must go back again for in the future.
