Liberty Tree Tavern Paleo Dinner
It has been well over a decade since we visited the Liberty Tree Tavern in Disney’s Magic Kingdom. I decided to make reservations for my daughter who was turning 22, her friend, and myself to celebrate her special day. I knew that the restaurant had many gluten-friendly options, but I was wondering if I could get an equally delicious Liberty Tree Tavern paleo dinner there, as well. If not, maybe I could aim for a keto-friendly version of the meal. Either way, the incredible Chef Jen did not disappoint.
I want to start by sharing all the menus for the Liberty Tree Tavern, including the ones for Wine, Beer, Hard Cider, and Cocktails. There are also options for Specialty Beverages for the young patriots in your party. You can click on the image of each menu for a detailed look at the offerings.
When speaking with Chef Jen, we discussed many of the menu item ingredients to see what would meet my needs. I will say this – Chef Jen was beyond exceptional. You will find some of the other information I do not discuss here in our other blog on this meal. You can access the link at the bottom of this page.
The various brines contain ingredients that will not meet many paleo and keto diets. For example, the turkey contains corn syrup, dextrose, brown sugar, and assorted flavorings. The pork loin has sugar and brown sugar. The pot roast has soy, corn, sugar, and canola ingredients. Since I did want to try one of the main courses, I went with that which had the least non-paleo items – the pork loin.
Now I do want to say that there were additional options, as you will see on my plate in the next section. Chef Jen offered me an entire seafood platter for my Liberty Tree Tavern Paleo Dinner which would have contained shellfish. While that is not an issue for me, my daughter has an allergy to shellfish, so I do not consume it around her.
My Amazing Liberty Tree Tavern Paleo Dinner
For my Liberty Tree Tavern paleo dinner, I began with a salad (without cucumbers and croutons). Chef Jen brought me out bottles of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar for my salad. Of course, I skipped the bread.
I opted for some delicious cod, prepared with herbs and EVOO. I also received a few slices of the delicious pork (yes, I cheated a bit). Ok, I cheated a bit more with a few bites of mashed potatoes – I could not resist. I loved the fact that the potatoes still had the skins mashed in. They were creamy and perfectly seasoned. All right, I also had a bite of my daughter’s gluten-friendly stuffing because I really wanted to try it. A huge shout out and thank you to Gluten Free and Dairy Free at WDW for posting the GF stuffing recipe from Liberty Tree Tavern. I made it for my daughter for Thanksgiving. I will post my updated version of it soon.
Chef Jen also provided me with a hefty portion of broccoli and green beans, also prepared with EVOO and seasonings. I was unable to finish everything on this incredible plate. The meal was beyond words.
For dessert, there is an option for a sugar-free sorbet. However, I avoid artificial sweeteners, as well. The sorbet contains both sorbitol and sucralose, two ingredients I cannot have. Instead, Chef Jen started mentioning all the various fruits available, and we decided on some mango, kiwi, pineapple, and blueberries. As you can see in the photo, the platter was packed with fruit. All three of us could barely make a dent in it. No matter how much we ate, it seemed like nothing left the plate. Every piece of fruit was at the perfect degree of ripeness. Seriously, nothing could have been better. Here is my hint for Disney – Sorbet does not need added sugar. Start out with some ripe frozen fruit and that is all you need.
